Melissa has one core goal: to equip companies, individuals, and leaders to have constructive conversations about mental health at work, team dynamics, and communication in the workplace. Her work and book aim to accomplish just that.

Melissa also holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Adler University and a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Communications from The George Washington University. While in clinical practice, she held several licenses at the state and national levels and achieved certification through a Stanford University-sponsored program as a Chronic Disease Self-Management Educator. She is also a Certified Professional Facilitator of the Strengths Deployment Inventory (SDI).

Melissa uses her unique hybrid background of education and field experience in both clinical and organizational psychology to translate complex ideas into simple actionable knowledge to help bridge this skills gap for employees and leaders in your organization.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

“There’s a lot of beauty in this world, but it’s also really tough out there. While I can’t control much, I can control how I communicate with others, how I behave, and what I teach others. I can help people learn to talk about their own mental health and create space for others to do the same. That is a torch I’m proud to carry in this world.”

During her downtime, Melissa loves to travel around the world, go salsa dancing, hike with her husband and their rescue dog Lola, make tortillas from scratch, and play Bananagrams.

Way back in the day, she tried out for American Idol and The Voice. And, if you ask her nicely…she even might show you her famous Chewbacca impression.
